UN staff in Ethiopia helicopter crash

Addis Ababa – Officials say a helicopter carrying UN personnel aboard has crash-landed in Ethiopia and that some of them were injured.

Dina Mufti, the spokesman for Ethiopia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told The Associated Press that the helicopter crashed on Wednesday in the town of Debre Zeit, about 50 kilometers (30 miles) outside Addis Ababa.
Dina said there were multiple injuries but he did not immediately have further details.
However, the state-run news agency reported that the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority said two Russian-made helicopters were traveling from Djibouti to Addis Ababa on a U.N. mission. It said one helicopter crashed with four people on board, including two pilots. The helicopters were scheduled to stop in Addis Ababa on their way to Juba, South Sudan.
