Senior Regional Immigration Officer, Mr Ndelema Mwakipesile said on Thursday that 21 illegal immigrants of Ethiopian origin have been caught along Mbegani Beach in Bagamoyo District in Coast Region over the weekend.
According to Mr Mwakipesile, immigration officers with the help of good citizens and militia police managed to arrest the Ethiopians who reached the shores using a dhow from Mombasa, Kenya at midnight.
He further said that, Bagamoyo beach is very wide and has a number of entries which are used by illegal immigrants.
"They are expected to appear in court on the 24th of this month, and there is no Tanzanian involved in this case", he said that already there are 138 illegal immigrants all of Ethiopian origin nabbed since January, this year
